Can I use a step-up transformer with my Vitus Audio phonostage?
Yes, you can use a step-up transformer with your Vitus Audio Phonostage by utilizing the MM input settings.
How should i set it up?
1. Select the appropriate MM gain step based on the output of your step-up transformer. Start on the lower values of MM gain steps and progress upwards. Make sure the signal does not sound distorted.
2. Set the MM load to 47 kΩ, which is the standard requirement for most step-up transformers.
Should I use a step-up transformer or the MC stage directly?
Our phonostages are designed to allow direct connection of MC cartridges, which eliminates the need for a step-up transformer. However, some cartridges are specifically designed to perform best with a step-up transformer feeding an MM input.
Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference. You can experiment with both configurations, MC direct or step-up transformer into MM, to determine which setup delivers the sound you prefer.
